Cantu Shea Butter Activator Cream

Hey Twisties,

If you read my post titled T Minus 10… days to my Punta Cana vaca then you know that I was looking for a less expensive leave-in conditioner for my little get away. So I hit the shelves of Walmart spending way more time than needed reading labels, opening and smelling products, walking away and coming back like its the frige and doing it all over again. ultimately I settled on Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream. It claims to produce frizz free, bouncy curls, delivers volume and add shine.

At first I was a bit apprehensive because of my experience as a natural with Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream that was so bad that just the scent upset my stomach. But this new product of the line has nice tropical fruity scent that is quite lovely and meshed well with my Caribbean vacation. The ingredient list is quite extensive I figured it was at least worth a try.

I first used this new leave-in following a co-wash after a dip in the sea. My objective with my hair was to keep it simple while in DR and that’s what I did. After co-washing I applied the leave-in and so far I’m very much in like. The consistency is very creamy and glides into my hair without hangups. My hair soaked up the products and did reduce frizz, and enhance shine.

I applied the conditioner in sections and fingered combed to separate my curls took all about 10 minutes from start to finish. I gave this curl activator cream another go when I returned back to the States. Same results achieved using the same technique leaving my curls quenched, soft, shiny with movement.

Final Thoughts:

If I keep achieving these results this could become a staple in my regime especially during the summer and my beach days. The product was priced around $6.00 for 12 oz, which is definitely within my budget. This curl activator cream is part of a collection geared more to the natural kinky curly hair. Next time I’m in Walmart I pick up another product from this collection and see if Cantu can win my affection back.

This is my product free (a bit of seawater though)

This is what was achieved after co-washing and adding the Cantu Shea Butter Moisturizing Curl Activating Cream

Stay Beautifully,

Twisted

I know you didn’t mention gel, but did you put gel on top of the curl activator or did you use the curl activator alone?

    • Twisted says:

Hi Aly, I didn’t use any gel just the curl activator cream and at times a 50/50 coconut olive oil mix and if my hair needs it a leave-in moisturizer underneath.

How long does it take for the white residue to disappear after you apply the cream?

    • Twisted says:

      Hi Trisha,
It normally takes maybe 30 minutes for the product residue to disappear, but sometimes if I use just a little it absorbs right away.
