Hey Twisties,
I just received an update on Lisa’s road to healthy hair progress and she is seeing some positive results. She’s been laying off the Denman a lot more and seems to be moving in the right direction in finding a hair care regime that works for her. Below is a week by week breakdown on what Lisa has been doing the past month.
I must say that this month was much better than last. Angie hooked me up with an easy hairstyle that takes at the most 20 minutes to master. I also laid off my beloved Denman brush. Not all at once but I am most certainly not using it as much as I did last month. So here is a week by week breakdown of what I have been doing:
The main objective for this week was to lay off that Denman brush! I started this week with co-washing my hair with my favorite conditioner, VO5 the mango one. I divided my hair in fours and spritzed each sectioned with aloe Vera juice, and moisturized with knot today. I then applied the KCCC gel to my hair in layers like I was applying a perm. No Denman brush on wash day. I did end up using the last three days of the week.
I had the genius idea to do a protein treatment early in the morning a couple of hours before church. I put the treatment in and washed it out. I then followed up with the Apogee conditioner. I put a plastic cap along with my winter hat and left it in for the day. I washed my hair the following morning. This week I used the Denman brush almost every dayL. I think I was trying to make hair look bigger, fuller then what it was. It’s a mental thing.
Week 8-
After co-washing my boyfriend and I measured my hair. Here are the results:
Right back- 5 inches
Middle back- 4 ½ inches
Left back- 5 inches
Middle front- 4 ½ inches
Middle- 6 inches
Right side- 4 inches
Left side- 4 inches
I was thrilled to see some growth. I never had a problem with growing my hair but now I am finally retaining the growth. Progress!! This week I also bought a new product. A leave-in conditioner, Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier. I picked it up from CVS. I was at CVS wasting time and decided that I had to buy something. This winter so far has been relatively mild with a sprinkle of really cold days. On those colder days my hair needs a little more moisture, so I got the conditioner. I applied it to my hair the next day and noticed that my hair was softer and more moistened (if that is a term….).
Week 9-
In the lovely state of Florida and did not wash my hair this weekJ. My hair and I survived with water and my new conditioner with a touch of KCCC here and there. I left the brush at home so was forced to use just my hands. I applied the products to my wet hair in thick patches and smoothed not raked the products through my hair. Results were good!
Week 10-
Hair was extremely knotty on wash day. I am guessing it’s because I didn’t wash it for two weeks. I did my usual of co-washing with VO5 conditioner, followed with conditioning. Separated hair into fours, applied aloe Vera juice, knot today and the new conditioner. I immediately noticed that my hair became knotty and rough looking with the additional conditioner. Checked out the ingredients again and found my beloved coconut oil. Next week I will omit the new leave in for wash day.
