Hey Twisties,
Stemming from our great state of Hawaii the oil of the Kukui (means enlightenment) nut does wonders for our hair. This is a multi purpose oil that is rich in vitamins A, C and E, antioxidants and is enriched with an excellent source of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids. The approximate make-up of of this oil is 17-25% omega 9, 24-29% omega 3 and 39-43% omega 6 fatty acids which a pretty high concentration of this good stuff. Kukui oil can be added to shampoos, conditioners and butters to add a bit more oomph to the products, and there is no worry of a greasy film left behind. Like coconut oil, Kukui oil has the ability to penetrate the hair shaft, aiding in the retention of moisture and imparting some vitamins directly in the hair. It has been said that this oil helps relieves itchy scalp and dandruff, and particularly works well on dry overexposed hair. So if your curls are craving something new and something tropical give Kukui oil a try.
