Single-Strand Knots

Hey Twisties,

Single strand knots are exactly what they sound like. A knot occurring on a strand of hair. These knots are very prevalent in natural kinky curly hair, because of the coily, twist and turns our hair has a tendency to do. It can be difficult to prevent single-strand knots from occurring but there are some preventive measures that can be taken. Stretching is a popular way to prevent these pesky knots. Stretching elongates the hair preventing it from coiling around its self. Detangling regularly and detangling from the ends to the root helps to hamper the formation of knots.

Single-strand knots can feel like split and dried ends in the hair. Many naturalistas resort to the search-and-destroy method to combat these undesirables. I have ‘em, but for the most part I leave ‘em.

Stay Beautifully,

Twisted
